Itinerary

Inka Trail to Machu Picchu 5 Days Private Day 1

Early in the morning, around 5:00 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll travel in private transport to km 82, the starting point of the Inka Trail, where we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast before beginning the hike.

During the first stretch, we’ll walk through beautiful Andean landscapes until we reach Meskay. We’ll then continue to the archaeological site of Patallaqta, where we’ll have lunch and set up our first campsite. The day ends with a comforting dinner under the stars.

The second day begins with a cup of coca tea and a nutritious breakfast at the Patallaqta campsite. We’ll then continue our hike through Tarachayoc and Cusichaka, enjoying breathtaking landscapes and archaeological remains along the way.

We’ll continue on to Wayllabamba, where we’ll stop for lunch. Afterward, we’ll begin the ascent toward Ayapata and finally reach Llulluchapampa, where we’ll set up camp. The day ends with a well-deserved dinner surrounded by the Andes mountains.

The third day begins with a cup of coca tea and an energizing breakfast at the Llulluchapampa campsite. From there, we’ll start the ascent to the challenging Warmi Wañusca Pass, also known as Dead Woman’s Pass—the highest point on the Inka Trail.

After the descent, we’ll arrive at Pacaymayo, where lunch will be served. We’ll then continue the trek up to the Runkurakay Pass, followed by a visit to the archaeological site of Sayaqmarca and the area of Chaquicocha. The day ends at Puyupatamarca, where we’ll set up camp and enjoy dinner under a starry sky.

The fourth day will begin in Puyupatamarca with a coca tea and a breakfast that will give us the energy to continue the route. The hike continues with a visit to Intipata, a group of agricultural terraces with impressive views.

Then we will arrive at Wiñaywayna (Mini Machu Picchu), where we will enjoy lunch. We will continue toward the Sun Gate – Intipunku, the point from which you get the first magical view of Machu Picchu. Finally, we will descend to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night at our campsite – Puente Ruinas. Lastly, we will say goodbye to our chef and porters.

On the fifth and final day, we will wake up at Puente Ruinas, have breakfast, and head down to the town of Aguas Calientes. Afterwards, we will be picked up to board the Consettur bus, which will take us in approximately 30 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu.

We’ll enjoy a guided tour of approximately 3 hours, exploring the main areas of the Inca citadel. After the visit, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes, where lunch is not included. Finally, we’ll take the train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cusco, concluding this unforgettable Inka Trail experience.
